Mythic Content Changes

During the year 2022, Riot Games is going to be changing the whole Mythic content system. The changes are going to be released in three different phase:

Phase 1

This phase is basically all about the Prestige shop and Gemstone shop being merged into one rotational shop called the Mythic shop. The shop will feature both Prestige and Gemstone skins.

Since the shops will be merged, both Prestige points and Gemstones will be merged into one currency called Mythic Essence. Once the update is released, all your Prestige points will disappear, and all Gemstones will turn into Mythic Essence (1 Gemstone = 10 Mythic Essence).

Mythic Essence will also replace both Prestige points and Gemstones everywhere they appeared (Loot & rewards), and the drop rates of Mythic Essence from Masterwork chests will temporarily increase to make up for the removal of Prestige points.

The store rotations will go as follows: 2 Prestige skins (Only skins that have been released at least a year earlier) per month and 2 Gemstone skins per 3 months.

The first rotation will last for 3 months and will include 6 Prestige skins, of which 3 will cost 125 ME (The Prestige editions of Spirit Blossom Teemo, Arcanist Zoe, and Battle Queen Diana), 2 will cost 150 ME (The Prestige editions of Pulsefire Thresh, and PROJECT: Irelia), and 1 will cost 200 ME (K/DA Kai’Sa Prestige Edition). As for the first Gemstone skins rotation, the skins featured in the store will be Hextech Annie and Hextech Amumu.

Also, Riot Games is planning on retiring the Hextech skin thematic, and introducing seasonal Mythic thematics, which will change every year. This year’s Mythic thematic is Ashen Knights.

A seasonal thematic skin will be released every three months, and once released, will be added to the rotation pool at the end of the year. There will also be a Mythic thematic ward skin (50 ME), and a Mythic thematic emote (25 ME) rotating per year.

Players will also be able to spend Mythic Essence on Hextech Chests (5 ME), Hextech Key (5 ME), 50 Orange Essence (1 ME), or 150 Blue Essence (1 ME).

Lastly, Phase 1 will give all those who owned old Prestige skins a modified version of them, making their investments worth it. Also, once the conversion happens, all Mythic and Prestige skins will not drop through rerolls, Hextech Chests, or Mythic Chests, except for a brief period at the beginning of every season (Only for skins that have been released at least a year earlier).

Phase 2

This phase is about the Milestones system, and the new Prestige skins (Prestige 2.0).

In this phase, Riot Games will be upgrading new Prestige skins to come, making them stand out, and feel more like the special Mythic very rare skins they are, instead of looking like gold chromas for the original skins. New Prestige 2.0 skins will also come with a brand new splash art.

As for the Milestones system, it will be changed to something called Loot Milestones.
Loot Milestones give you bonus rewards for opening loot. There are two versions of Loot Milestones:

  • The first is for Masterwork chests, which is repeatable and can be completed and done again infinitely (ME drop rates will return back to normal on launch).
  • The second one is called Loot Showcase events which will be a one-time track for events that you can complete by opening event capsules (without having the event pass), and at the end of the track, you will get the event’s prestige skin.

Phase 3

This phase is all about the event passes. An event pass will still cost 1650 RP (Including 4 event orbs and 200 tokens), and the 2650 RP bundle will still be available for all events, but the pass itself will be changing, as it will be more like the traditional battle pass, meaning you will play to gain XP to progress in the pass.

The pass will have a free track (30 Levels including same rewards that non pass owners get) and a paid track (50 Levels including milestones rewards and a repeatable 51st level that grants tokens) for those who buy the event’s premium pass.

The events shop will also be gaining some improvements, such as category tags.

This concludes all the updates that Riot games will be releasing during the year 2022.
